About the book, Daughter of War
The Daughter of War starts in 1916 during the Armenian genocide, where the main character Kevork is living in Syria posing as an Arab when he is really Armenian. When he lives in Syria, his dream is to reunite with his fiancée Marta. Before Kevork, Marta, and her sister Mariam, lived in an orphanage, before they were deported and separated. Later, Marta was rescued by Adila, who was an Arab. Marta was taken to Aintab where Marta was repeatedly raped by Adila's husband. While Marta is in Aintab, Kevork sacrifices his life to go to Smyrna, Turkey to deliver photos of murdered Armenians that he hopes should be published in American newspapers to bring awareness to the genocide. Kevork shows activism when he travels a dangerous journey to deliver the photos because he is acting on his beliefs. Kevork believes that all the people in the world should know about this horrible genocide.
